The district of Manang sits in the foothills of the Himalayan mountains. Known for its picturesque landscape, the story of the district’s residents goes untold. With a population of just over 5000, a significant amount of people are living with curable and avoidable blindness. The Tej Kohli and Ruit Foundation recently made their way into the district to cure those living with vision loss caused by cataracts.

A lot of the time, communities like those in Manang live their entire life without any kind of medical intervention. This can be caused by a variety of different factors. Often, rural communities do not have access to resources, education or hospitals. Some communities and villages in Nepal are extremely difficult to reach and can often take days on foot to reach.

Despite this, the Tej Kohli and Ruit Foundation make the treacherous journeys regardless. Being able to reduce poverty by curing those suffering from needless blindness will help support those in need.
